This is going to be part 1 of a series of ‘write-ups’ about screamo bands from around the world. First up is Ива (Eeva) from Russia. I don’t have much to say other than, if you like high energy, jangly,  and fast screamo you will like this band. Chord and speed change-ups for days, tapping, screaming, furious drumming, sweet screamo strumming patterns, they got it all.

This is the second show at the ****NEW**** Turtle Den. When I went on tour with my buddies in The Reptilian this past spring, we played a house in Philly where we met Mark of Secret Plot To Destroy The Entire Universe. When I heard his band was going on tour with Placeholder, I immediately got in contact with him and booked this absolutely LOADED show.

Placeholder is an upbeat and powerful punk/emo/hardcore band from Pennsylvania. They used to go by the name of Coastal, which is what most people know them as, I think, as the name change only happened in the last few months. They remind me of a lot of bands from the PA/NY scene: Polar Bear Club, Title Fight, et al. Super riffy post-hardcore stylings mixed with modern pop-punk make this band a real threatening piece of ass. You can check out their Bandcamp here.

Secret Plot To Destroy The Entire Universe lives up to its name: while listening, you can’t help but believe the band is truly out to ruin the whole of the universe with its super-sad vocals and lyrics, its atmospheric and dazzling guitarwork and the uplifting drum and bass that keep it all together. They, too, have a Bandcamp page here!

Running Shoes is a local pop-punk/emo act I’ve only heard in the last two months or so. The band possesses a sound that can be traced back to influences like Midwest Pen Pals and Merchant Ships, but beyond that, the band stabilizes itself in a poppier role that never grows old and never gets too sappy. What I really love about bands that sound like this is their tendency to utilize the vocals of every member of the band, which really adds a lot to the sound. Fortunately, they don’t have a link to their music online, which means you’re going to HAVE to come out in order to experience it!

Scripts is another local act that is, by far, the heaviest band on the bill. They’re a little bit screamo and a little bit rock ‘n’ roll and the hits never stop coming as they whip through each song at a breathtaking pace. They also don’t have a link to their music online, but they’re coming out with an EP sometime soon. Come check them out tonight and have a good time.

Doors are at 7pm and the show is going to start shortly after that, regardless of who’s there. Bring money for the touring bands and buy some merch from anyone that has it available!

And if you want Facebook achievements, you can check out the event here.

This is going to be an incredible night of music. Not only is this Sam CP's last night to celebrate with us here in GR, we are hosting two incredible touring bands. The Daredevil Christopher Wright is from Amery, WI and just released a new album. These Guys are one of the most amazing bands to see live. Three people completely optimizing what the human body can do with instruments and voice all at once. Truly a feat. Dastardly is a great Chicago band. They played here last summer and anyone who was there can tell you how mind blowing it was. When everyone in the band started to sing it blew all the minds in the room. also, here are a few pictures that I took for the Daredevil Guys in correlation with their new album. also always a good local treat Sam will play a set as well as Strawberry heritage
